Guided Spring Snow Goose Hunts
Welcome to Whiteout Outfitters Spring Snow Goose Hunting Adventures. where we offer Spring Snow Goose Hunts in Missouri. We have been hunting snow geese for over 24 years and have been up and down the Central and Mississippi Flyways chasing snow geese during the reverse spring snow goose migration or the Light Goose Conservation Order hunting season. Our spring snow goose hunting during the light goose conservation order is done in Northwest Missouri area located north of the famed Loess Bluffs NWR aka Squaw Creek NWR. Over the last 5 years with the inconsistancies of weather and migration patterns we have decided that this is the most consistant area to stage our hunts.
Spring is a season of renewal, and for hunters in Missouri, it’s also a time for one of the most exciting and challenging hunts of the year: the spring snow goose hunt. The snow goose is a migratory bird that travels from the Arctic tundra to the Gulf of Mexico and back each year. During their annual migration, they stop in Missouri to feed on the fields and wetlands, providing an opportunity for hunters to harvest these beautiful birds.
The snow goose population has exploded in recent years, with estimates of over 5-10 million birds in the Central and Mississippi Flyways alone. This has led to concerns about the impact of these birds on their breeding grounds, as well as on the agricultural fields where they feed. To address this issue, the Missouri Department of Conservation among other states have implemented a spring conservation order, which allows hunters to take an unlimited number of snow geese during a designated season.
The spring conservation order is a unique opportunity for hunters, as it allows us to use electronic calls, unplugged shotguns, and hunt from one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset. We utilize large decoy spreads, which can be essential for success in hunting these birds.
Our spring snow goose hunts in Missouri are typically conducted in large fields or pasture ponds, where hunters we set up large decoy spreads. We typically use layout blinds for our hunts to conceal our hunters.
Successful spring snow goose hunts require a great deal of preparation, both in terms of equipment and man power. Dealing with gear, e-callers, decoys, and blinds, and our guides must have a good understanding of the birds’ migration patterns and feeding habits. It’s an every day evolving thing to manage with wind switches and migration movement.
In addition to being a challenging and exciting hunt, spring snow goose hunts in Missouri also provide an important conservation benefit. The overabundance of snow geese can have a significant impact on their breeding grounds and the agricultural fields where they feed. By harvesting these birds, hunters are helping to manage the population and reduce the impact on the environment.
In conclusion, spring snow goose hunts in Missouri are a unique and exciting opportunity for hunters to test their skills and enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors. With the right preparation and equipment, hunters can have a successful hunt and make a positive contribution to conservation efforts. Whether you’re a seasoned hunter or a novice, our spring snow goose hunts in Missouri are an experience you won’t want to miss.
